Are You Ready to Test Your Technology in the Real World?
TAC Challenge 2026 brings together ambitious student teams from around the world to push the boundaries of subsea autonomy. At TAC, your vehicle will face realistic subsea missions inspired by industry challenges — docking, inspection, navigation, intervention — all performed in a demanding outdoor environment.
This is not a lab simulation.
This is not a classroom exercise.
This is engineering under real conditions.
If your team is ready to design, build, and operate a system where concept meets reality, we want you on the starting line.
The Challenge
Teams will compete in dynamic missions designed to reflect real subsea operations:
- Subsea Docking
- Pipeline Inspection
- Visual Inspection
- Valve Intervention
Autonomy is rewarded. Innovation is expected. Robust engineering wins.
Who Can Participate?
TAC Challenge is open to:
- University teams
- Technical colleges
- Student-led robotics organizations
Team members are expected to be full-time students, and international teams are welcome and encouraged!
Lodging at the Competition

Welcome to Vaulali Leirsted
This year the student teams will have the opportunity to stay at Vaulali Leirsted in scenic surroundings. Accommodation might be limited, so first come, first serve. Join us for five unforgettable days of technology, social events and networking with other students and businesses!

- Tents (basic camping or glamping)
- School facilities (if available)
- Nearby external lodging
Important expectations:
- Camping facilities may be basic and practical, not necessarily premium or “glamping.”
- Weather in Norway can be cold and wet, also during the summer — teams must plan accordingly.
Further logistical guidance will be provided.
